Who We Are
Ubuntu Life is a nonprofit business that uses the power of global commerce to create social impact for mothers and children in Kenya.
We believe the deepest and most permanent way to empower our community is through sustainable enterprises producing high-quality products and experiences. As a non-profit business, we offer our employees meaningful jobs with above-market wages and benefits, while generating revenue that supports our special needs center.
Today we operate three non-profit enterprises. Café Ubuntu offers visitors the most memorable casual dining experience in the Great Rift Valley. Ubuntu Life Water, the first social-impact water in Kenya, comes from a naturally healthy forest spring. And our shoes and other products are sold internationally and have earned the support of Jimmy Kimmel, Kerri Walsh Jennings, and others.
How We Work
Our goal is to provide all our employees a work environment in which they feel happy, supported, passionate, and productive. We’re incredibly hard workers–all wearing 3 or 4 hats at a time. That said, it’s a surprisingly chill environment. No one takes themselves too seriously, politics are minimal and leadership genuinely cares about each team member’s happiness and career growth.
Our MISSION
Ubuntu Life is a nonprofit business that uses the power of global commerce to create “inch wide, mile deep” social impact for children and mothers in Kenya.
Our STORY
It all started over a bowl of questionable stew with an unlikely duo. Find out how nine women helped us transform a traditional nonprofit into a social business that is changing the world.
Our TRIBE
Tribe is our community of adventurers, healers, pioneers and change-makers who believe deeply in Ubuntu’s unique ability to create authentic relationships that empower and restore.
